Fungi- Either too classy or just too eew.
Life always finds a way...
It's finally pouring in my city, it's all cool, breezy, and wet! But yes we do have waterlogging, irritating dampness, and limited motility too. As I walk past a huge tree in a park near me after 2 days of continuous calming rains, I noticed a spectacular feat- a mini mushroom jungle growing over the bark of an old live tree! I am truly amazed by the choice of these fungi, this side of the bark is always in shade, is pretty damp by now, and well is pretty neglected. I peek a little bit closer and the irony of tiny umbrellas growing in the rain strikes me and leaves me in awe and splits at the same time.
Small umbrella jungle right in the middle of a crack where only darkness and dampness creeps.Truly mesmerizing! But on a deeper thought, I was forced to accept how excellent is the mode of utilization of dead, decaying wet substances by the nature. Fungi happen to be one of the richest sources of proteins and are found all over the world in varied colors, levels of poison, and tastes! A delicacy at some places and staples for the others. Nature does not let anything go to waste, nothing at all!
When I looked at these mushrooms, nobody seemed to marvel at their existence or write poetry for the same. But I was mesmerized, staring, photo archiving them. SO are many of the great chefs too! Richy creamy mushroom soup or mushrooms in your panini and pizza, their taste is relished worldwide in other forms too. But there will be quite a number of those who hate the sight, odor, or slimy texture of these too.
Translating and extrapolating it to life, we need to retain our characteristics and not change just to fit them.
We'll be cherished by a few and hated by a lot, But it will be worth it!
So no matter how cheesy(let's say rotten it may sound) next time you are low, look at the fungus! Drive your strength from darkness, from the depths of your despair, and from the soakage of your tears, Be the fungus!
Grow in the neglect, flourish in the hate and disgust and nourish all!
